Everyone says this of Vi - she's shy. But she's a sweetheart. The word has leaked out - her cousin is going to do the honours by taking her to this year's Prom, and by all accounts he's just as bashful as she is. Veronica managed to catch a fleeting glimpse of her in a 'well-known' designer's shop in town the other day, and the word is, it's going to be all mauve chiffon, and blushes.
Vi would do well to come out of her shell; she really is cute. With short, curly dark hair and luminous, sapphire eyes you'd wish she'd stop hiding around corners or haunting the mathematics section in the school library. She's a will o' the wisp!

     The thing about Vi is, she's brilliant. It's just that her personality is a bit retiring. Most people don't get to hear what she knows about astronomy, physics, and the structure of DNA molecules. What she knows about science could fill a 20-volume edition of the encyclopaedia - you can't beat her for brains. I'm sure the class would vote her the most likely contender for a five-day stay on Jeopardy.
     She confided to several of the girls this week what her future goals are. Number one, marriage, to a highly sympathetic and compatible individual. Number two, to be an astronaut. Number three, to design the rocket ship she'll be going in!
     Better work out some more in the gym, Vi. And good luck!
